It’s Away!

Four weeks ago, I submitted my manuscript to the publisher (a day early, which I was rather proud of, being a general procrastinator). Two weeks ago, they responded after the team had gone through as a “first pass” with suggested notes. Add a few things here and there, maybe combine a couple chapters, title suggestions: none of the notes were major changes and all of them made the book better, in my opinion. But I also started a new job the same week, and the notes added about 12k words to the book. I came up with a bunch recipes, spells, and rituals in a faster timeline than I ever thought I could, and sent the updates back to the publisher today.

The day before I go on vacation for a week to lie on the beach with a book and a bunch of sunscreen (otherwise known as napping on the beach with the book on my face). I wanted this off my plate, and I’m incredibly proud of myself for stepping up to the deadline and getting it done. Of course, that doesn’t mean more notes or edits won’t come: I expect they will as editing gets going. But sending that email today felt like a good step.

And tomorrow night I’ll be in Cocoa Beach, with a stack of my TBR pile I’ve been saving since Yule AND the brand spanking new Anne Bishop novel that arrived today. Yessssss.
