Book News

I have a cover!!

I love it. I can’t wait to do a big cover reveal whenever I’m allowed.

I also got to see a draft of the forward, written by an author I had at the top of my “if only” wish list when asked for anyone I’d prefer the publisher ask first. The draft made me cry in all the best ways. It’s starting to feel real.

Currently the manuscript is with my editor (I have an editor!! And a publicist!! I don’t know if that will ever NOT feel cool to say.) which fills me with all the nervous worries because I tend to write in my voice with wild abandon for grammatical accuracy. I’m sorry? I hope fixes and rewrites aren’t terrible or overwhelming, but until I know the list of work I’m facing I’ll have all the fears.

The book is on the schedule for release next February, and should be available for pre-orders later this summer/early fall. OF COURSE I’ll share details as I know them, and have links to all the places it can be ordered/purchased/signed/etc.

Of course, the path to self-sufficiency as an author isn’t one-and-done. I’ve been reworking the novel (I’m pulling a couple of sub-plots that just weren’t working at all to make the plot better and more straightforward) and I’m nearly done with a project plan for another practical Pagan book: witching through divorce. SK had a fabulous idea for a whole series of “witching through” books, yet another reason he’s my husband. Ha. Unlike the cancer book, this topic does have a couple prior examples out there on Amazon and Goodreads which, as far as I can tell, haven’t sold well. Is that because they weren’t needed or some other reason I can’t possibly know since I’m not a publishing industry guru? No idea. It’s tricksy business, but I see a sliver of space in the alternative spirituality/wellness/new age market for more “apply Paganism/witchcraft lifestyle to real life” targeted topics. We’ll see how that plays out as I get the book proposal done, I guess.

My NetGalley list is getting a little long, and I have a book review waiting (it was a really good book, I just haven’t had time to sit down and give the review proper attention). So if you like the reviews section of this blog, they’re on the way.
