Huh. I Always Wanted to Live in Ireland…

When I graduated college, my parents gave me a gift: money for down payment on a car, or money to go on a trip. When the tour bus drove off the ferry and I set foot on the ground in Waterford for two weeks in Ireland, no kidding, it felt like I’d come home.

I tried to move after that trip, but it turned out an American moving to Ireland was trickier than I’d anticipated as a college graduate.

The feeling was no different the last time I was in Ireland in 2018. I have every reason to think it’ll be exactly the same next time I’m there, because of course I’ll be back. Maybe not to live, but it’s a calling, nonetheless.

In the meantime, today my woods are a gloriously green and rainy reminder, with mysterious paths and the occasional deer staring out at me. Just one of the many reasons this place also feels like home.
